London Street Photography day – Because we’re worth it.

A couple of weeks ago, the very talented Kevin Mullins put a Tweet out to see if anyone would be interested in doing a London Street Meet Up.  The idea of this would be where a group of photographers meet up and just did some relaxed photography in London, just for fun.  I don’t know about other photographers, but this is something that Kim and I have really missed; just grabbing our cameras and taking photos, because we can.  We get so involved in Cocoon the business, that we actually forget that taking photos is what made us start the business in the first place.  Anyway, needless to say, we jumped at the chance.  Unfortunately, a couple of days before the proposed meet up, Kevin had a personal emergency and so couldn’t make it.  However, Kim and I were still keen to go, and so we emailed everyone on the list to see if any others would still like to come along. Peter from Peter Hearl Photography joined us and a day of street shooting in London took place. It was the most gorgeous sunny day when we met at 12noon underneath Nelson’s Column. As soon as we met, our cameras were at the ready, and off we went.  I had never done anything like this before, and I have always felt a bit embarrassed, or rude, to just take someone’s photo and then walk on, but no-one batted an eye (apart from when Peter got questioned by the police about taking photos – it’s obvious that a terrorist would use a huge Canon camera, and not a camera phone isn’t it!!!).  I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed my day strolling around London taking photos of anything and everything that I liked the look of, and knowing that I was doing it for myself too, and not because a client wanted it.  Here are a few of my favourites from the day.  Kim will post her’s soon too.  I hope you enjoy them (does anyone else know what a Heritage Warden does??!!). A huge thank you to Kevin for suggesting the meet up, and we are so sorry that you had to miss such a fantastic day.  Thank you to Peter too for making the day such fun.  Can’t wait for the next one!!
